The Lagos State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency has organised a send-forth ceremony for more than 20 retirees who have diligently served the Lagos State Government.
Speaking at the ceremony, the General Manager, Mr. Lateef
Lawal said retirement from active service is a necessary phenomenon once you have put in 35 years in service or attained the age of 60, adding that it is the dream of every officer to retire gracefully and honourably when the time is right.
He therefore congratulated all the retirees and advised them to spend quality time with loved ones and do everything in moderation in retirement.
Also speaking at the ceremony, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Oluseyi Whenu commended them, saying “if you have not put in your best you would have been sent packing”. He also charged them to remember that they are retired but not tired, while advising that they engage in lawful vocation and hobbies that are stress free.
The retirees were enjoined to ensure they live within their means since they would be on pension and not the regular salary, while praying for their good health and sustenance.
